SCA Packaging Design Challenge

Your challenge: Come up with a lean, slick – fat free - packaging solution

HI!

I wonder how SCA came up with the Challange, why choose chocolate?

I really don´t mind chocolate or the challange, I´m just curious as I can imaging many of the other contestents are.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi Jenric,

Here is your answer…

We started with a brainstorm session, looking for a good subject. Plenty of ideas were suggested but nothing was convincing. When somebody mentioned chocolate, everybody believed it was a perfect match.

Why? Firstly, because almost everyone loves chocolate and eats it regularly (especially students!). It’s a universal product, so everyone in the contest has the same chance.

Secondly, chocolate creates a real challenge for packaging designers. Food safety standards play a role and the product is fragile, so it has to be well protected. It’s an impulse purchase but can be at the same time a quick snack or an indulging luxury. It’s sold everywhere, in all kinds of places and comes in various forms and shapes which all play a role in appealing to the consumer.

There’s one more reason why we chose chocolate. SCA Packaging is based in Brussels, and Belgium is the world’s chocolate capital.

Remember, this competition asks you to think beyond the actual package and create a new packaging solution – one that is innovative and environmentally friendly.

Best wishes,

Mira

Thanks for the answer it did really feed our curiosity!

It is said that good chocolate gives you the same pleasure as...because it releases all the endorfines and the seratonin levels rise quick as well.
