Your challenge: Come up with a lean, slick – fat free - packaging solution

Word-Of-Mouth (WOM) has been around ever since man started talking to his neighbour; it was the primary marketing model until the industrial revolution gave birth to modern media. Now WOM is shooting back up the hit parade of marketing favourites, propelled by (you guessed it) the Net.

WOM marketing is all about passing information directly from one consumer to another. Because it’s personal, and not professionally motivated, it carries special credibility. Marketers try to fire WOM by creating a product “buzz” that’s so strong, consumers just have to tell someone about it.

Now the Web and mobile telephony have made WOM immediate and gigantic. Young people today communicate instantly – anywhere, any time and all of the time – by email, SMS and all kinds of networking sites. It’s on YouTube before the TV news. Instead of just chatting to friends, we can talk to the world.

This is why companies have joined the fun, either as owners of the new sites or as advertisers on them. Every marketer wants to have a brand mingling with consumers in the new social media…
